About

Delaney Breen is an avid performer and music educator in the Twin Cities, Minnesota.  She maintains a rigorous teaching schedule through her private studio, the Laurel School of Music, and the MacPhail School of Music.  In addition to this one-on-one teaching, Delaney also works with various school districts and organizations such as the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies (GTCYS), serving as a lesson teacher, section coach, and contest adjudicator.

When Delaney isn’t teaching, she is performing.  Delaney holds the second horn position with the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra, and travels north often to perform with the group.  She also plays with Bur Oak Brass; a brass quintet that boasts a wide arrange of musical specialties from the classical literature to pops and jazz.  You will also hear her throughout the Twin Cities in a variety of gigs from church performances, accompanying groups such as the National Lutheran Choir, and performing with the Encore Wind Ensemble.  You can also catch her playing at festivals like the Northern Lights Music Festival up in the Iron Range.

Delaney received her Bachelor of Music degree in Horn Performance from St. Olaf College, where she studied with Tim Bradley, Herb Winslow, and Dr. Jenna McBride-Harris.  She then went on to earn her Master of Music in Horn Performance from the University of Cincinnati - College Conservatory of Music (CCM).  Here, Delaney had the privilege to study with Denise Tryon, Liz Friemuth, and Margaret Tung.  These two institutions and their wonderful horn faculty are what made Delaney the teacher and performer she is today.
